bulilit definitely provides entertainment to her sister. even when belly is tattling on her, bulilit will do something that will make belly giggle.
today, belly told me bulilit was being nasty to their nanny, so when i told bulilit to go back down and apologize, she slid/bounced down the stairs on her stomach. she literally looked like a puck from the plinko game on price is right. bounce-bounce-bounce. cue belly's infectious giggle.

daaammmnnnn
has it really been this long? we're into a new month? oops. because i have so much to catch up on, welcome to a stream of consiousness post...
ETA (@11:55pm): i'm updating the blog from bed and belly just rolled over to me and says, "mommy. whaaaatcha doin?" (silence) "oh that's fun" (silence) "what's that?" all with her eyes closed. so she sleepwalks AND talks in her sleep. fabulous.
fun things from labor day weekend:
monday: lunch at jason's deli with my hungry girls, scarfing down their mac n cheese... enjoying the last day at the pool (for 30 minutes)... yummy chinese buffet at blue pearl in springfield...
sunday: clemyjontri park... girls entertaining each other in the car on the way over... girls' laughs=best sound ever... dinner at ruby tuesdays with my hungry girls who dance in the aisles, smile at the wait staff and other diners... bulilit waving bye to everyone when we leave
saturday: shopping at dulles town center... buying girls' new shoes... watching the carousel then giving in when belly asks me non-stop if she can ride... sitting on the too-fast carousel with bulilit and belly... ice cream and cookies for dessert, after the girls inhale a pizza
friday, 9/3: lunch with my hs bestie at noodles & co, catching up, making plans to work/study together now that i have a new nanny situation
wednesday, 9/1: hanging out with kim (ha! it's been forever since we used that nickname!!! and her sister was lea, as in lea salonga, and she was kim because that was lea's name in miss saigon), coming downstairs to the basement to see her and e, with buililt in e's arms, computers back to back battleship style. hilarious.
tuesday, 8/31: smarie and her mom over at the house to color my hair, gossip and catch up. i heart them ...
entire week of 8/30 - 9/3: feeling like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders as punky comes back to watch the kids. e coming home from work saying he likes seeing me happy and that i have so much less apparent stress already. and really appreciating my afternoons with both the kids and my husband when i've been away from them all day.
saturday, 8/27: yo gabba gabba live at nissan pavillion. (whatever, jiffy lube live. you will always be nissan pavillion)... running into a hs friend whose daughter is also super into YGG.
for those of you unfamiliar, allow me to introduce them:
pssst, i'd read down a few blog entries. didn't realize i had more than a few in draft mode so i just published them! :)

groundhog day

yes, i realize it's april 12 and not february 2. but lately, it's felt like every day is just a repeat of the last. i joked once with my cousin that my life wasn't very exciting -- rather mundane and routine actually -- and said my motto was "lather, rinse, repeat." oh, how i'm longing for the days of normalcy and uneventfulness.
To recap the last week and half, i've made 3 trips to the doctor for 2 different kids within the span of 1 week. let's not forget that because i'm so attached to the pediatric practice i grew up with, i decided to bring my kids there, despite the fact it is 16 miles away and 25 minutes on a good day (and let's be serious, when does going east along 66 ever go as fast as it should??).
but belly and bulilit do make it interesting so i gotta give credit where it's due. the two of them will vacillate between making each other laugh hysterically by blowing raspberries to yelling at each other ("mommy, bulilit just pinched me!" "Agh!" "mommy, bulilit won't hold my hand!" "Agh!" "mommy, bulilit is spilling her juice on her car seat!" "Agh! Agh! Agh!")
Belly: Mommy, I'm hungry for dinner. (Right, because it's now 6:30 and in the rush to get to the dr's office, mommy didn't pack any snacks for the car even though it was prime dinner time.)
Me: I know you are Belly. I'm trying to get home as soon as possible but there are all these cars on the road. (You guessed right, I was on 66 West, battling it out with the regular commuters.)
Belly: But I'm hungry now.
Me: Yes, and as soon as we get home, I'll make you some chicken and rice (note: we had chicken and rice for lunch since it was freshly cooked at that point and I had made enough to last for dinner as well.)
Anyway, what a long-winded intro into my thankful list. Thanks for sticking with me (if you've made it this far!):
Friday: Isn't it obvious? Conversations with toddlers and interactions among sisters. Oh also, spring session for ballet has started and the girls got to dress up as fairy princesses this week.
Saturday: After putting the girls to bed, E and I went to Fridays and I had a real drink (wine and sangria don't count). Too bad I'm alcohol illiterate and didn't realize what I ordered until it arrived to the table. What can I say, I saw "tropical mojito" and even if it came in a pitcher I still would've ordered it. But really, I was thankful for alone time (finally!) with my husband, laughing and being stupid and remembering what it was like to be out on a saturday night!
Sunday: Spending time with my sis2be, who flew in the previous night. (Yes, cheesy!) And naps. Lots of them while cuddling with a sick baby.
Monday: A beautiful spring day and Orange Milano cookies with milk.

Belly: Chicken and rice AGAIN? (yes, you are are your father's daughter. have i mentioned that i'm probably the only one in the house who eats leftovers?)
When we get home, I fix up two bowls of chicken and rice. Bulilit comes at me with her mouth open wide, like I can't shovel the food in her mouth fast enough (compare to the previous night, trying to feed her wild rice and her mouth stays clamped shut while the head shakes furiously).
Belly, after eating about 3/4 of her bowl tells me she's done. So I say, ok, how about one more big bite? And she says, no, how about 4 more? I think I like negotiating with toddlers!

bellyisms
we've completed a week of belly sleeping in her own room!! slept in there again with her last night, because i haven't put up the baby gate on the stairs yet and i don't want her toddling half-asleep in the middle of the night without it. she's currently sleeping in her bed right now - in between her toodee and muno cuddle pillows.
i'm pretty much thankful everyday for the blessings who are my children. but belly's been so darn cute that i'm extra thankful for her today.

sometime in the middle of the night last night, i somehow wake from a deep sleep to hear a quiet, persistent whisper of "mommy. mommy. mommy." i open my eyes and am met with two brown eyes staring at me from in between the wooden rails on her toddler bed. it would've been scary if it wasn't so comical.
then this morning, she woke me up by practically screaming, "i'm a sheep, baaaaaaa!" i open my eyes (again) and i see her wearing her lamb hat given to her by her lovely cousin. i burst out laughing.
later on, we're in the car and she pulls out her dazy cow pillow pet. and proceeds to yell in a very loud voice, "MooooooO!!! mooooo!!!" (have you heard about these pillow pet things? e's parents gave one to belly forever ago and apparently they are the hottest thing now! i saw a kiosk at the mall selling them a couple weeks ago...)
belly has also decided that she'd like to skip right ahead to the "why?" phase. after almost everything i say, she turns to me and says, "why?" so i give her the most basic answer i can come up with at the moment, but the whys continue. so i pretend to ignore her, she gets frustrated and the whys become, "why? TELL ME!" it would be obnoxious if i didn't dissolve into laughter every. single. time.
p.s. nanny found another wasp in the basement, crawling along the carpet. so much for peace of mind. the pest company will be hearing from me tomorrow!

hilarious
after a very rough week, both personally and professionally, I really needed a good laugh.
As usual, I turned to YouTube. Currently laughing while i watch manny pacquiao singing on jimmy kimmel. And this video never fails to make me laugh. out. loud. belly watched it yesterday without me knowing--i could hear her giggling and looked over at my ipod to see what was making her laugh.
this morning i laughed while watching belly at her ballet class. the other kids were running around, not paying attention, and there she is, on the floor, following her teacher's direction, laying on her tummy with legs up and crossed, hands on her cheeks and moving her head from side to side. and right before that, on the ballet barre, doing her kicks with hands on her hips, just like her teacher. too. cute.
so i'm thankful for laughter today. because, honestly, how would we survive??
random: I've already outed myself with the Vampire Diaries love. So thanks boo for sharing this link with me.
